威尼斯定期受到恶劣天气的影响,每四年就会经历一个高水位期,但一般不会超过110厘米,仅淹浸全城10%的面积。
扎亚称,“我们遇到了启示录大洪水,我没有夸张,全城80%的区域处于水下,带来了无法想象的可怕损失。”
威尼斯市政府此前通报称,该市水位达到创纪绿的187厘米,是该市历史上第二高的水位。1966年威尼斯的水位曾达到194厘米。
恶劣天气导致相邻的佩莱斯特里纳岛(Pellestrina)上2人死亡。
