拜登团队称，政府会以身作则。拜登计划在自己总统任期的第一天就颁布法令，即在所有联邦建筑内和联邦境内的人员以及在那里工作的人员都必须佩戴口罩和保持社交距离。

根据2020年11月3日的美国总统选举结果，拜登获胜，他的就职仪式将于1月20日进行。
